He is currently a member of the Granite State Symphony, Granite State Opera Orchestra, and the White Mountain String Quartet. Chris has been a conductor and coach for the North East Youth Symphony, the Northeastern Suzuki Festival, and NHASTA’s String Festival. Chris was selected as string teacher of the year in 2002 by the NH Association of String Teachers (NHASTA).

Chris Nourse has been on the faculty of Mountain Top Music Center since its founding in 1996.

Chris’ teaching philosophy:
“As a teacher I realize that the idea of studying an instrument can be intimidating. This is sometimes the case for violin, which has a reputation for being challenging. I find that with enjoyable lessons, by playing many kinds of music and by introducing new tools only when needed, students make good progress and feel really good about their accomplishments.

“I enjoy teaching and playing. Music has greatly enriched my life. My students generally feel the same way once they get going.”
