Fall Term

The Fall Term begins Monday Sept 11th and runs for 13 weeks. The term ends on Friday Dec. 15th.

Tuesday classes have their last (13th) class on December 6th.

Group Lessons

Custom group classes may be available for groups of 4 or more by special arrangement. Please call the office to discuss.

Certain Group Classes allow “drop-ins”.  Please register, even if you are planing to drop in, so we have your name and contact information if the time and/or location of the class changes.

Wed., Nov 22nd to Fri Nov 24th (Thanksgiving Recess).

In case of teacher absence, make up lessons will be scheduled the week of Monday Dec. 18th to Friday Dec 22nd. There are no makeups for group lessons missed by the student.

Molly Ockett Strings Jenny Huang-Dale Elementary- grade students Monday (meets at Molly Ockett school in Fryeburg) 3:00-4:00 p.m. $84 7 weeks, November 6-December 18. Learn the basics of playing violin, viola or cello. Instrument rental is included!
Group Guitar/Kids Sharon Novak 6-9 Monday 4:00-4:45 p.m. $156 Fall semester only. Children will learn the basics of playing guitar, including correct left and right hand positions. Basic music and chord reading is also included. No prior musical experience necessary.
Keyboard Kids Sharon Novak 5-7 Monday 4:45-5:30 p.m. $156 Fall semester only. Students learn to read music notation, use right and left hands to play familiar songs, and begin to play in ensemble. Students will experience the keyboard in a friendly and encouraging setting. No prior musical experience is necessary. Students will be ready to move into private lessons in the spring.
Chamber Ensembles Leigh-Ashley Milne or faculty member of choice by appointment High School and Adult Monday 7:00-9:00 p.m. $130, $10 per 60-minute class, up to 13 weekly sessions. This enjoyable playing experience allows students to hone their skills playing in a chamber ensemble. Each chamber ensemble will receive regular coaching from Leigh-Ashley Milne or may choose a Mountain Top faculty member whose skills and experience are appropriately matched to the instruments of the ensemble.
Adult Singers Workshop Mary Bastoni Adult Monday 7:00-8:30 p.m. $156 or “drop-in” for $12/class Mary Bastoni leads this group through exercises designed to promote good vocal technique without intimidating singers. She chooses repertoire for singers, or singers may bring their own requests. Most of all, the group has a great time singing together! Taught in Fryeburg.
Intro to Jam Band  Chad Cummings  Kids – Adults  Tuesday 3:30-4:00 p.m.  $104/free to students taking private lessons. A first experience in group playing and improvising for students who are beginning to master their instruments.
Cover Band Chad Cummings Kids – Adults Tuesday 4:15-5:15 p.m. $130 or “drop-in” for $11 per class/free to students taking private lessons Cover Band is designed for musicians who wish to add an element of singing to their ensemble playing in the rock, jazz, and pop styles. Attendees should have a strong musical foundation on their instruments.
Jam Band Chad Cummings Teens and Adults Tuesday 5:30-6:30 p.m. $130 or “drop-in” for $11 per class/free to students taking private lessons Mountain Top’s Jam Band provides the opportunity for musicians to improvise and play music in a band setting. Mountain Top Music Center will provide bass, guitar, and percussion for those who do not have their own instruments. The Jam Band is grounded in rock, but also explores a fusion of jazz, blues and pop. Attendees should have basic playing skills on their instruments, and players of all types of instruments are welcome.
Community String Band Shana Aisenberg High School and Adult Wednesday 6:30-7:45 p.m. $175.50 per 13 week session or “drop in” for $15 per class Learn to play traditional New England, Appalachian, and Celtic music. Repertoire includes reels, jigs, hornpipes, hoedowns, rags, marches, and waltzes. We’ll explore the roles of different instruments in a string band and how to create harmonies, accompaniments, and arrangements. Tunes are taught by ear, but written music can be provided. Attendees should have basic playing skills on their instruments. Class not limited to stringed instruments. This course is on-going throughout the year. Players may drop in any time to join.
Community Orchestra Faculty Adults and Teens Wednesday 7:00-9:00 p.m. Free Location: Kennett Middle School

Music for Babies Sharon Novak Birth to 2 years Thursday 9:30-10 a.m. FREE Babies from birth through two years play interactive games involving familiar songs, rhymes, and rhythms. Activities are designed to stimulate cognitive development and musical awareness.
Pre-school Music Sharon Novak 2-5 years Thursday 10:30-11:15 a.m. $104 per 13 week session, or “drop-in” for $9 per class Children use familiar folk songs to learn principles of rhythm and pitch. Through singing, dancing, and the playing of rhythm instruments, children lay a foundation for further music study. Prereading skills are incorporated in drawing and coloring activities.
Thursday Blues Chad Cummings Adults  Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. $175.50 per 13 week session, or drop in for $15/class This group playing experience will teach players to improvise over blues forms while playing through many of the most enduring old blues standards. Instruction will include music theory, ear training, and some basic music notation. Attendees should have basic playing skills on their instruments, and players of all types of instruments are welcome.
 Early – Intermediate Ensemble for Cello and Other Strings Jenny Huang-Dale N/A  Thursday 1:15-2:15 p.m. $156 An ensemble for adult string players who have progressed beyond the beginner stage and are ready for an ensemble experience.
Beginning Strings for Adults Jenny Huang-Dale  N/A  Thursday 2:30-3:30 p.m. $156 Introductory strings class for adults.  You will have an opportunity to explore violin, cello, and viola.
Strings After School Jenny Huang-Dale 6-9  Thursday 4:00-4:45 p.m. $375 for school year Students have the opportunity to try cello, violin, and viola, and then choose one instrument to study. Singing and movement are used to relate to instrument playing. Instrument rental of $125 is included in class fee.
Youth Ensemble Ellen Schwindt 8-14 and at least 1 year of playing experience  Thursday 5:30-7:00 p.m. $130/Free for students taking private lessons Youth Ensembles will play as a large group and as smaller groups. Ensembles will prepare several concerts during the school year, sometimes in conjunction with other Mountain Top ensembles. All instruments are welcome. Students are encouraged to select and plan their own ensembles – duos, trios, quartets etc.
