Paul Winterman wildlife photography

Paul Winterman is a retired homicide investigator from Florida whose passion for wildlife has been translated into a career as an artist with a camera. His photographs are taken in the back country areas of America, sometimes in wildlife refuges, but usually in the most remote territory he can find. He will crawl within 20-30 yards of the objects of his search and then wait, often for hours, until the animals are comfortable with his presence and go back to living their normal lives. The results of his endeavors are truly termed Art, with a capital "A."

Winterford Galleries was started by Patricia Biegler and Anne-Marie Amiel to offer the opportunity to see and buy the works of one of the nation's outstanding wildlife photographers, Paul Winterman. The gallery itself is in the heart of Bridgton, ME, not far from Acadia National Park, the White Mountains and Moosehead Lake. Paul Winterman has paid five visits to the area in 2008 and 2009 to photograph the wildlife and the stunning scenery of New England.

In the summer of 2010 Paul's pictures will be exhibited in two sites: During July Paul will be the featured artist at Deertrees Theater, Harrison, Maine. For more information on the exhibit and the summer program at Deertrees. please visit their website at www.deertreestheatre.org. Paul's second exhibition will be at Mountaintop Music in North Conway, NH, and will run June-August, 2010.

Winterford Galleries holds a quarterly photo contest with free entry.

Also available at the gallery are the works of David Smus, a Maine-based bronze sculptor and wood carver whose feel for his subject is as great as Paul's.
